Our Partner
Donate fresh produce September 5 Second Harvest Heartland will be on site Sunday collecting produce from shoppers and growers to help feed our neighbors in need. In the first three weeks that they were at the Market, they collected 18,737 pounds of fruit and vegetables. That was 4,312 more than last year at that time. Thank you Farmers Market shoppers and vendors! Giving Green, the Market/Second Harvest Heartland partnership that brings fresh, local produce to hungry neighbors is in its second year. Each Sunday through October, growers and shoppers donate produce to those in need in our community. Thanks to this program, surplus produce, which might otherwise have been unused, is delivered immediately to food shelves, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, faith-based organizations and children's after-school programs. |
